Toronto, Ontario: The Capital of Ontario
Toronto is Canada’s biggest city and Ontario’s capital city. It’s the 4th most populated city in all of North America. It’s the heart of the Golden Horseshoe and the centre of the Boreal Forest. It was built around the most beautiful parts of Lake Ontario with a bustling population of more than 9.7 million people. Toronto is famous for its thriving business district, the arts and fashion, sports, and astounding culture. It’s a melting pot of diversity and cosmopolitanism. Indigenous people have lived in and used this region to gather for thousands of years.
Exterior Inspection
When the technician arrived on site they performed an exterior inspection of the property and found entry ways through multiple weep vents, a wall vent which was a primary access point as well as soffit roof intersections that could allow rodents to get into the attic. This is a common situation, often people will have no idea they have mice until they go into the attic and realize the infestation is there. Attics are willed with soft insulation that can be used as nesting material.
Interior Inspection
While inspecting the interior the technician found activity throughout the house. The inspection of the interior of the attic space which is a place rodents like to go to. They can access it either by entering the house at ground level and moving up the house through the walls but they can also access the area from the roof. This is how they accessed the attic in this case, through roof wall and soffit intersections.
Initial Measures
The first step was to treat the mouse activity in the house. This is done with tamperproof locked bait stations containing commercial grade rodenticide. The mice will feed on it repeatedly and at the same time. While snap traps can only catch one mouse at a time the bait can be consumed by all the mice at once. Mice can reproduce rapidly and normal, old fashioned methods of capture and killing one mouse at a time is just not effective. A commercial grade treatment with bait is much faster and will end the infestation.
Proposed exclusion
The technician sealed off twenty eight soffit roof and soffit wall intersections using caulking and steel mesh or sheet metal. These entry ways where the cause of the issue and once sealed the mice would not be able to squeeze through the openings. While mice can chew new entry ways they cannot chew through steel. A wall vent was sealed off as well and eight weep vents at the base of the house. The wall vent was sealed with a black rubber galvanized steel cage while weep vents are sealed with stainless steel vented inserts.
Conclusion
The technician excluded the areas the mice where getting into and the infestation in the house and the attic was treated. At the end of the process the house was free of mice activity and the bait stations, which are rebated monthly were still full with no sign of consumption. The customer was happy and could finally live their lives knowing the mice are gone and have been prevented from returning.
